Frankly I’m a very big fan of Dananronpa series, Monokuma is probably the best bear I’ve have seen in the entire gaming history. I can't say it's entirely unrelated, but you don't have to worry about Naegi showing up at the end or anything like that.Okay, it’s time to talk about the Danganronpa V3 – Killing Harmony – Demo ver. Or at least feel like the choice was forced on them for narrative reasons - which it absolutely was- rather than being a logical solution to the mystery.Īnd what's the point of a Danganronpa game if the mysteries don't make sense and follow internal logic?Īlthough I will say, it only has tenuous connections to the previous games.

I obviously can't go into details, but basically, there are big clues which the first trial outright ignores, and that can easily lead a player to pick the wrong culprit. On top of that, the mysteries have some problems. It desperately needed some editing.Īlthough in some ways, the padding of the story goes hand-in-hand with deeper narrative problems I can't talk about without getting into ending spoilers. I was honestly getting bored in the midsection, because of how slowly the story was moving. Seriously, it takes around 40 hours to get through, vs 25 or so for DR1, despite having the same number of chapters\trials. (Which I personally disliked.) The characters and a lot of elements of the story really felt recycled, and it was sooooo stretched out. Personally, V3 was my least-favorite of the series, and that's how I felt even before getting to the super-divisive ending.

So try to ignore everything said about what it is about. It is always a bad idea to position yourself in a certain way before experiencing something, rather than just taking it as it comes, but many people go out of their way to position people before they play V3, probably without realising, based on their own ideas of the game. So I would just ignore anybody who says anything about what the story is or isn't about. I would say be very careful about seeking information about V3, because there is a lot of information, correct or incorrect, being thrown out by people. This can also serve as an explanation of the variety of opinions of this game and all its components compared to others in the series. This probably explains the great amount of discussion more than anything else. Unique is probably the best word, as it indicates that it can disrupt expectations. It is quite a lot more complex, in many ways, than the others is the series, narrative wise. It requires a certain attention to detail and willingness to be open to possibilities. It certainly prompted a lot of discussion, as the response to the game is very varied :) The old /r/patientgamers Essential Games List Please use flair to display what games you’re currently playing, not a punch line, username, tag, URL, or signature.
